MORE GOAT!

Chateau le Chevon

Hi folks! We know that you all have been just waiting with baited breath to see what new "goat-ish" adventures were to come. Wait no longer! Feast ye eyes upon the hollow-horned ruminant antics. The larger one is Thor (we didn't name them) and the little tyke is Daisy. We are bottle feeding these two every three hours (thankfully not through the night). We'll leave that duty to the human mammals.

Yeah, that's right...I like to make collages....so what?!

Baby Love

The Most Precious....

The most notable and special thing to have happened lately was the birth of William Quenton Gebeau III. Jed, my other sister Dawn and I were able to make it to the hospital in Paradise, CA before the actual birth! I was soooo happy to be able to be there. What precious moments those were. We love you Tara, Quenton and Willy Q (Babalu)!

Paint Booth Action Shots

The Great Paint Booth Project

Jed has been experimenting with different ways to get knocked out from paint fumes while painting bike frames in the garage. So, this year he decided it was time to save our senses (our "shniggitties" - Jed and Tanley language for "noses") and build a booth that would both contain and then expel offending odors away.
Here are some progress pictures and then some of the booth and it's maker in action!

Birthday Paper Whites

Let's Catch Up!

Whew! The past few weeks have just flown by and so much has been happening so before it becomes embarrassing that we haven't updated in a while I'd better get a move on...
So first, I'll like to start off by saying that while the winter persists, Jeds and my love of all things green has not diminished and we continue to slowly achieve turning this place into a jungle of sorts.
The Paper Whites were a birthday gift from my sister-in-law Shanti (who shares the same affinity towards green things). Thank you Shanti, for my beautiful flowers!
Next is a nice little collage of our challenging and tempermental Gardenia. This is the second of two plants (birthday gifts from Jed). The first of which we thought had aphids and the florist told us she would give us a another an not to waste a minute getting the first one out of the house before infesting other green brethren. So we brought home Gardenia #2. Once again the little tiny bugs appeared out of nowhere! We couldn't believe it! None of our other plants had bugs so this was just getting weird.
To make this long flora story short...we discovered the little creatures were spider mites. Much less destructive apparently and now have fended off two infestations of those "buggers".
As you can see my gardenia blossoms have not dissapointed.
See, some things just really want to bloom!

Day old Kids and Mama enjoying the sun

These guys were just so cute and we decided they should have their first outing today and get some sunshine. They are only 1 day old and already frolicking about quite a bit. You can imagine how tired they were when we took them back into their cozy pen and promptly fell right to sleep.

We've got babies!

These two are just hours old in this collage. They were so wobbly they couldn't even stand up to eat yet. Sooo, adorable!

Collage: Part Deux

Mixing the goat grain mixture...looking forward to healthy, fat little Kids in February!
Goats at the "Chompin' tube"
Chickens and Spirit (the horse) at dinner.
Jed; thinking about a fresh egg for dinner. Nice looking eggs!

Ranch collage

Clockwise from top-left: Jed ice-skating on the pond with Noogie and Buddy (Buddy is the resident lab). Noogie is trying to escape the very strange sensation the ice is giving him.
Jed walking to hen house to cluck at the ladies.
Tanley filling up the grain tube for the goats.
Tanley admiring a freshly laid egg...."It's still warm!"
Chickens apparently love kitchen scraps so our compost bin isn't getting too full.

A way in a manger...

So, here's Jed, fluffing the hay for some expectant mother goats...who don't care too much for our company, but a great deal for the beet pulp, soy flour, and barley grain mixture they get every evening.

Home on the Ranch

Happy New Year All!
New Year's Eve Jed and I spent the night at our friends Paul and Cindy Shonka's. They have some acreage on the outskirts of Bend and find home with some 16 goats, a dozen and a half egg laying chickens, two dogs, two cats and a very large Hanavarian horse. We have temporary charge of these critters and we're into it up to our eyeballs until next weekend. What follows is just a taste of our adventures so hang-on and have fun!
We are!
Oh, Paul and Cindy have two boys as well; Rijen and Pavel...we've yet to really see or meet them as they played pranks and generally tried to hide when we arrived for the "intro" to the farm.
