Day old Kids and Mama enjoying the sun

These guys were just so cute and we decided they should have their first outing today and get some sunshine. They are only 1 day old and already frolicking about quite a bit. You can imagine how tired they were when we took them back into their cozy pen and promptly fell right to sleep.

We've got babies!

These two are just hours old in this collage. They were so wobbly they couldn't even stand up to eat yet. Sooo, adorable!

Collage: Part Deux

Mixing the goat grain mixture...looking forward to healthy, fat little Kids in February!
Goats at the "Chompin' tube"
Chickens and Spirit (the horse) at dinner.
Jed; thinking about a fresh egg for dinner. Nice looking eggs!

Ranch collage

Clockwise from top-left: Jed ice-skating on the pond with Noogie and Buddy (Buddy is the resident lab). Noogie is trying to escape the very strange sensation the ice is giving him.
Jed walking to hen house to cluck at the ladies.
Tanley filling up the grain tube for the goats.
Tanley admiring a freshly laid egg...."It's still warm!"
Chickens apparently love kitchen scraps so our compost bin isn't getting too full.

A way in a manger...

So, here's Jed, fluffing the hay for some expectant mother goats...who don't care too much for our company, but a great deal for the beet pulp, soy flour, and barley grain mixture they get every evening.

Home on the Ranch

Happy New Year All!
New Year's Eve Jed and I spent the night at our friends Paul and Cindy Shonka's. They have some acreage on the outskirts of Bend and find home with some 16 goats, a dozen and a half egg laying chickens, two dogs, two cats and a very large Hanavarian horse. We have temporary charge of these critters and we're into it up to our eyeballs until next weekend. What follows is just a taste of our adventures so hang-on and have fun!
We are!
Oh, Paul and Cindy have two boys as well; Rijen and Pavel...we've yet to really see or meet them as they played pranks and generally tried to hide when we arrived for the "intro" to the farm.
